Our process
How selling and sourcing work
Belvoir works two ways: buying cars directly from owners, and sourcing specific cars for clients. Both are considered processes, not quick transactions — here's exactly what happens in each.
Selling to Belvoir
Five short steps, covered in full on the selling page.
- 01
Tell us about the car
Make, model, spec, history and condition.
- 02
We review it properly
Specification, provenance and current market position.
- 03
A straightforward position
A figure, or an honest explanation of why we can't reach one.
- 04
Inspection & documentation
Verified in person, paperwork prepared properly.
- 05
Cleared funds and collection
Payment clears before the car moves.
Sourcing through Belvoir
01
The brief
Every mandate starts with a conversation — usually thirty minutes, by phone or in person. We want the car, the spec, the budget, and the things you won't compromise on. If you're after a 992 GT3 Touring in a PTS colour with under 3,000 miles, we need to know that a Gentian Blue standard car won't do.
We'll also tell you the truth about the brief. If the car you want doesn't trade at the number you have in mind, we say so before taking a penny. Some of the most useful work we do is telling a client their budget buys a better car than the one they asked for.
The sourcing fee is agreed here — fixed, per mandate, before any search begins. It's transparent and it doesn't move with the price of the car, so there's no incentive for us to see you pay more for it than you should.
02
The search
Three channels, worked in parallel. Dealer networks: the official-network and independent specialists who see cars before they're listed. Off-market: allocation holders, collection managers and cars quietly available but never advertised. Private owners: people who would sell the right car to the right buyer, if asked properly.
The best examples rarely reach the classifieds. When they do, they're often priced for people who haven't done the homework. Most of what we shortlist was never publicly for sale.
You get a shortlist, not a flood — each candidate with its history, spec sheet, and our honest view of where it sits in the market. If nothing is good enough, we keep looking. We don't pad shortlists to look busy.
03
Inspection & history
Before you commit to anything, the car is inspected by a marque specialist — not a generalist with a clipboard. On a GT car that means over-rev reports pulled from the ECU, paint depth readings on every panel, and corroboration of the service history against the dealer's own records.
Provenance is checked the slow way: ownership chain, finance and register checks, import history where relevant, and a conversation with the people who last serviced it. A car with a story that doesn't hold together is a car we walk away from — and we've walked away on clients' behalf more than once.
You see everything we see. The inspection report is yours, whether or not you buy the car.
04
Negotiation
We negotiate as your representative, with the leverage of knowing exactly what the car is worth and what else exists. Sellers behave differently when the buyer's agent can name the three comparable cars that traded this quarter.
Because our fee is fixed, there is no incentive for us to see you pay more. Every pound off the price is your pound, not our commission.
05
Delivery
Funds move through solicitor or escrow arrangements where appropriate — never informally. Paperwork, V5 transfer and warranty registration are handled before the car moves.
The car arrives by enclosed transport, at your home or your storage, with its history file complete and organised. If you'd rather collect it from the seller with us alongside, that works too.
Wondering whether this applies to the car you have in mind? See the marques we source or read the questions we’re asked most.
Next step
Selling or buying — ready to start?
Thirty minutes is usually enough to know whether we can help. If it isn't a fit, we'll tell you — that costs nothing.
